I was raised and educated in rural Cambridgeshire before leaving to study design at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside in Hull. From there I moved on to Leeds where I worked in hospitality, retail, manufacturing and latterly for an educational charity.
My partner and I moved to Knaresborough when we were expecting our first child; we now have two children who both attend a local school in the town.
It was when I was expecting our second child in 2015 that I stood in my first election and I was elected shortly after his birth. My son attended many meetings with me in his first six months. I am now in my third term for Knaresborough Town Council.
Within the Knaresborough community, I have co-run a local playgroup, sat on the Noah's Ark Preschool Committee, set up a local initiative with local business owners to promote shopping locally, formed the Conyngham Hall Working Group, which helped facilitate a new weekly parkrun event and initiated 'Bright Friday' - an annual event to celebrate our community at Christmas.
In July 2021 I was elected in the last by-election to Harrogate Borough Council, where I have served on the Planning Committee and the Audit & Governance Committee.
In May 2022 I was elected to North Yorkshire County Council as one of the 90 Councillors to serve on the new unitary authority North Yorkshire Council. I am a committee member on the Transport, Economy & Environment Overview & Scrutiny Committee, the Harrogate & Knaresborough Area Constituency Committee, and the Harrogate & Knaresborough Planning Committee.
Within Knaresborough I am a Board member of two community organisations: Knaresborough Connectors and Chain Lane Community Hub.
Representing on External Organisations: Knaresborough Town Twinning, Knaresborough Chamber of Trade, Yorkshire Local Councils Association, Harrogate and District Access Group, Knaresborough Friendship and Leisure, Knaresborough Community Centre Committee, Knaresborough Civic Society
Party: Liberal Democrats
