Discover Knaresborough – A Walk Through Time
Join us for a FREE one-hour guided stroll through the charming market town of Knaresborough, led by one of our fantastic volunteer Knaresborough White Badge Tour Guides.
Perched dramatically above the River Nidd, Knaresborough is one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque and historically rich towns.
Together we’ll uncover tales of medieval kings and rebels, markets and miracles, and the remarkable people who helped shape this unique place.
From the imposing ruins of its Norman castle to the iconic railway viaduct, you’ll explore the town’s fascinating past — including its connection to Mother Shipton, England’s most famous prophetess, and Blind Jack, the visionary 18th-century road builder who changed the face of travel.
Along the way, we’ll trace Knaresborough’s evolution from a royal stronghold to a thriving market town. With hidden courtyards, dramatic cliffside views, and centuries of stories carved into its stone, this walk offers a fresh look at a town full of surprises.
Come and discover Knaresborough — a place where history and legend go hand in hand.
