Knaresborough enjoyed a remarkable moment on Tuesday 26 May 2026 as His Majesty the King visited Knaresborough Castle.

The Mayor of Knaresborough Councillor Shan Oakes was delighted to formally welcome His Majesty King Charles III to our historic Castle and meet him during this special visit.

The town and Castle grounds were alive with excitement as residents gathered to greet The King, many hoping for the chance to say hello. People across Knaresborough were absolutely thrilled that His Majesty chose to visit our beloved Castle, and with the sun shining, the whole atmosphere felt vibrant, proud, and full of community spirit.
