Knaresborough Town Council Publishes Annual Report 2025–26, Celebrating a Year of Progress and Community Spirit

Knaresborough Town Council has released its Annual Report for 2025–26, offering residents a clear and engaging overview of the Council’s work over the past 12 months. As a democratically elected body, the Council recognises the importance of keeping the community informed about the projects, services and decisions undertaken on their behalf.

The past year has been marked by significant progress and a strong sense of shared community spirit. Among the standout achievements is the successful establishment of the Mayor of Knaresborough’s Town Guide Project, which has already begun strengthening local pride and visitor engagement. Another major milestone was the appointment of a Town Ranger, a role created in direct response to residents’ calls for improved maintenance, repair and day‑to‑day care across the town.

Throughout the year, the community came together to celebrate both national and local heritage, as well as much‑loved traditions. Through its robust community grants scheme, the Council was proud to support cornerstone organisations and events that continue to enrich civic life.

The Council also made meaningful progress on key strategic projects. Notably, solar panels were installed at the Stockwell Community Wellbeing Hub, marking an important step forward in Knaresborough’s sustainable energy ambitions. In addition, the Council has taken major steps toward assuming operation and management of the town’s historic Wednesday Market as part of North Yorkshire Council’s Double Devolution scheme—strengthening local decision‑making for the years ahead.
