VE Day 80th Anniversary Silhouette Installation
Published: 07 May 2025
As Knaresborough prepares to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE), on Friday 2nd May the Mayor of Knaresborough Margy Longhurst joined some of the students from Craft and Social as they installed a silhouette tribute outside Knaresborough House.
Knaresborough Town Council wish to thank all the students and staff at Craft and Social for making this beautiful silhouette as part of our town’s commemoration of VE Day 80th Anniversary.
We hope many residents and visitors will be able to enjoy this brilliant installation over the next week as the silhouette stands outside Knaresborough House as part of the town’s celebration and remembrance.
On 8 May 2025, we mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and our nation will unite to celebrate 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe. VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for freedom but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.
Knaresborough Town Council are holding a VE Day 80th Anniversary community event in the Castle grounds from 6pm on Thursday 8 May and invite residents to join them for a shared moment of celebration and reflection as we come together to commemorate this historic national anniversary. The event will conclude with the lighting of the beacon at the town War Memorial.
