Published: 15 April 2025
Join us to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day on Thurs 8 May 2025 in the evening, in the grounds of Knaresborough Castle.
Come and enjoy VE Day 80th Anniversary themed entertainment with live performances from local musicians, bands and dance groups starting at 6pm.
Bring your own picnic or pop into town for delicious treats and goodies from our local businesses and shops. There will also be some refreshments available in the Castle grounds.
Members of the Knaresborough Branch of The Royal British Legion, Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps will also be in attendance and will parade in the Castle grounds leading us to gather at the War Memorial.
At the War Memorial overlooking the viaduct there will be prayers of remembrance, and we will sing ‘I vow to thee my country’. Then at 9pm Knaresborough will join with other parishes and towns around the country to light our beacon and the VE Day Tribute will be read by the Mayor.
All are welcome to come along and join us as we commemorate this special day!
