Leisure and wellness centre coming to Knaresborough
We want you to share your views on the design proposals for the new leisure and wellness centre coming to Knaresborough.
The new facility - that will replace the existing pool - will provide a six-lane 25-metre pool, learner pool with flume, sauna and steam room, fitness suite and studio, spin studio, café as well as electric car charging points, bicycle storage and large play area.
These proposals are designed to meet the varying needs of the community by providing modern, fit-for-purpose leisure and wellness facilities for generations to come.
You've got until Sunday 24 October to share your views.
Tree planting in partnership with the White Rose Forest
Working in partnership with the White Rose Forest, we have identified two areas in the district where additional tree planting can increase the canopy cover (increasing carbon capture) and biodiversity. These areas will have a variety of planting densities to create woodlands as well as areas of specific interest as shown on the attached plans. We are seeking opinions from the local community about these two planting schemes and welcome your feedback no later than 7 November 2021.
The two areas identified for additional tree planting in the 2021/2022 planting season are Bilton Fields in Harrogate and Conyngham Hall in Knaresborough. In total, we plan to increase the tree canopy cover on 17 hectares across the two sites by planting approximately 1800 trees/whips and other species.
We are interested in comments about the planned planting as well as offering members of the public and community groups the opportunity to help regenerate and care for these woodland sites.
Tree planting in partnership with the White Rose Forest consultation
The consultation will close on 7 November 2021.
Outdoor gym consultation
Some of the outdoor gym equipment at Knaresborough House in Knaresborough and Belmont Park in Starbeck has recently been removed because it was at the end of its life and was in danger of causing injury. The original outdoor gym equipment was installed in 2011 and we are looking to replace it with similar equipment and source funding to do so.
This consultation will gather opinions from local residents to help us create the most suitable design for the gym area. The public consultation report will be used to create a wish list for the design brief, which will influence the final decision.
The consultation will close on 26 September 2021.
Electric vehicle charging point survey
We are exploring the demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging points within the district. We would like feedback from residents, businesses and visitors to gauge the level of need to inform our decision making process for the next stages of our roll out of EV charging points. We are unable to provide on-street charging points we will share the feedback with our colleagues at North Yorkshire County Council and explore alternative arrangements if possible. We are also supporting a University of Leeds student with their degree course and would appreciate you taking the time to complete this short survey questionnaire .
Knaresborough and Harrogate Hydro leisure sites
We're investing £26.5 million in our sport and leisure facilities.
This will consist of a new combined leisure centre for the east of the district in Knaresborough and the remodelling, and complete refurbishment, of the Hydro in Harrogate.
In the summer of 2020, we asked residents, current guests and those who do not currently use our facilities for their for their input to shape these exciting developments.
