Representing on External Organisations: Safer Neighbourhoods Group, Knaresborough Relief in Need, Safer Neighbourhood Group
I was born and brought up in Harrogate before moving to Knaresborough in 1964. I qualified as a teacher both in Secondary and Further Education. In my younger days, I was a guider with my own brownie pack.
In 1976 I commenced working at the local hospital and in 1987 changed roles and moved to the Royal Baths Hospital as a Voluntary Services Co-ordinator, introducing volunteers to the hospital environment.
For two years I was Chairman of the Special Care Baby Unit, Parent Support Group. I have been a school governor, and serve on the Executive Committee of the Friends of Harrogate Hospital, raising funds to purchase items for the benefit of patients.
I am also working on the town council's Bright Friday WG, Office Services Cttee and the Emergency Response Group.
In 2009/10 I was very privileged to be elected Mayor of our wonderful town.
